Our mission has been given to us by Jesus
Christ when He said "Go into the whole world and proclaim the good news
to all creation." (Mark 16:15)
Our Work
"The lay faithful, precisely because they
are members of the Church, have the vocation and mission of proclaiming
the Gospel; they are prepared for this work by the sacraments of
Christian Initiation and by the gifts of the Holy Spirit."
-Pope
John Paul II
We the members of Holy Spirit
Radio, WISP 1570 AM, are a Catholic lay apostolate in communion with our
Holy Father, shepherd of the universal Church. Through education and
catechesis, we are dedicated to spreading the Word of Jesus Christ
through Catholic Radio.
We embrace the 1988 Post-Synodal
Apostolic Exhortation Christi Fideles Laici (The Vocation And
The Mission Of The Lay Faithful In The Church And In The World).
Recognizing this Sacramental call to holiness, the gifts we have been
given, as well as the responsibility inherent in the medium of radio, we
will use all means available to proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ
in the fullness of Truth and in accordance with the Magisterium.
We believe that the hope in
which the Holy Spirit sustains believers is hope for salvation--hope of
Heaven and hope for perfect communion with God. We understand that to
communicate hope credibly we must first experience hope in our own
lives, and that this will happen only if we are men and women of
prayer. It is, therefore, the mission of our radio apostolate to pray,
for and in all things, to be sustained by the inspiration of the Holy
Spirit so that we may effectively communicate this hope through our
radio broadcasts.
Through the intercession of
Mary our mother and Saint Joseph her most chaste spouse, we pray to the
Father, Son and Holy Spirit that we will always embrace a spirit of
humility and service. "We are unworthy servants: we have only done
what was our duty." Luke 17:10
