"Truth and Courage" Award Ceremony

February 3, 2012

St. John the Baptist Catholic School

Ottsville, PA

This award honors those modern day prophets who serve the Church. Some of them do it through the good example they show us in living out their faith. Others show us through their good example of service and still other through their support of teaching the faith.

This award was modeled after our patron - St. John the Baptist. St. John encountered Jesus Christ when the Virgin Mary visited his mother Elizabeth. Scripture tells us that the baby John jumped for joy. That one meeting with Jesus helped John know what God wanted for the rest of his life - to help people prepare for the coming of Jesus.

Dale and Jane Meier were inspired to follow God's call to bring Catholic teaching to the radio by listening to Mother Angelica on EWTN (Eternal Word Television Network).

Mr. Meier says that he and his wife "prayed about whether this was what God was calling them to do".  He said that he was led to found Catholic radio "by the Holy Spirit."  Holy Spirit Radio in Doylestown WISP 1570 AM went live March 19, 1999, on the Feast of St. Joseph.

Last year they expanded their listening audience to include Chester County, WCOJ 1420 AM.

Congratulations, Dale and Jane!  Thank you for inspiring all of us by demonstrating truth and courage.
