Pope John Paul II H.S. on Track for
Fall Opening - (CST) Construction on the new Pope John Paul II
High School in Upper Providence, Montgomery County, is 85 percent
complete. But the biggest news is that the new students will be
issued netbooks, or mini-laptop computers, when the school opens in
September upon the consolidation of Pope Pius X High School in
Pottstown and Kennedy-Kenrick Catholic High School in Norristown.

Pope Benedict Scores Victory in
Britain - (NCRegister) Pope Benedict XVI has again shown just
how necessary and effective it can be to speak out in the face of
unjust legislation against the Church. The British government today
backed down from pursuing parts of its Equality Bill, legislation
which would have removed the Church’s right to refuse employing
certain lay staff including, for instance, the right of a Catholic
school to employ a Catholic as a head teacher.

Local Coverage of the March for Life
- (CST) Hundreds of thousands of pro-life advocates were
joyfully clogging the streets and jamming the subway lines in
Washington, D.C. for the 37th annual Rally and March for Life.
Included were more than 90 busloads of people from parishes and
schools in the Philadelphia area.

Cardinal Rigali Urges Catholics to
Sign Declaration - (CST) Cardinal Justin Rigali is asking all
Catholics of the Archdiocese to join him in signing the “Manhattan
Declaration: A Call of Christian Conscience,” an unprecedented
national document that unites the voices of Catholics with other
Christians to give witness to the sanctity of human life in all
stages and conditions; the dignity of marriage as the conjugal union
of husband and wife; and the rights of conscience and religious
liberty.
